Rhodes Island

Cosmopolitan Rhodes is the largest island of the Dodecanese and one of the largest islands in Greece. The city of Rhodes is located at the northernmost tip of the island, and in its centre stands the largest living medieval town in Europe. There awaits the visitor an exciting journey to the time of the Knights. On Rhodes island there are plenty of archaeological sites such as the Knights’ Castle, museums, temples, the Suleiman Mosque where a mixture of civilizations coexist harmoniously with stylish shops, restaurants and cafes that the summer season are open until late at night. Do not forget to stroll through the picturesque Mandraki harbour, in the modern town of Rhodes tasting the delicious Italian ice cream inside the city. Located 4 km from the city of Rhodes is the area of Ixia. Placed between the city of Rhodes and Ialyssos, this is a quiet area but also quite convenient. Ixia has many newly built hotels offering excellent services. It offers many options for dining in traditional restaurants and restaurants serving European and Oriental cuisine. The vast, crowded beach of Ixia with crystal clear waters gives visitors several options for water sports, mainly windsurfing and diving.

Ialysos is a popular holiday resort with many hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and activities for tourists seeking fun or a relaxed family holiday. Ialysos beach is an ideal destination for windsurfing, kitesurfing and water related activities. Ialysos is located perfectly on the island with easy access to the airport, Rhodes Town and the amazing beaches on the east side. One of the must visit places in Ialysos is Filerimos Hill with the Monastery of the Virgin Mary and the ruins of an ancient acropolis. Visitors can also walk a 300m path leading to an enormous crucifix and breath taking view of the west side of the island.

On the eastern side of the island, only 16 km from the townof Rhodes is one of the most popular tourist resort. In the area there are organized hotel complexes and a variety of tastes and restaurants. Faliraki village is the favourite destination for the lovers of intense life and frenzied fun. Partying, drinking and revelling until dawn do not stop in Faliraki. The golden endless beach with fine pebbles is ideal for rackets, swimming and water sports. The more adventurous can try out here and bungee jumping, while for families with young kids the waterpark in Faliraki is a choice that will fascinate them and keep them happy.

The traditional village of Afandou is located after Faliraki, 20 km from Rhodes Town, offering easy and frequent access to it by bus. Inside the village the visitor will find traditional taverns, trendy cafes and bars where visitors can taste xerotigana (a kind of dumplings sprinkled with organic honey) and other traditional local Afandou delicacies. The village of Afandou is famous for its huge, pebble beach and crystal clear water that deepens abruptly. Along the beach there are several canteens, ouzo bars, restaurants and hotels. There is a modern golf course near Afandou beach , which is one of the best in Greece.

The tourist village of Kolymbia is located 24 km south of Rhodes Town. It is a quiet, family resort. It has a lot of green, and its famous street of eucalyptus trees is its landmark. In Kolymbia area there are many modern hotels. Entertainment choices are limited as well as food and drink available in the few restaurants and shops. The pebbled coves and beaches in Kolymbia are ideal for families with children and for fishing enthusiasts, since the place is offered for fishing. The location of the village will facilitate you as it is of the same distance going either to Rhodes town or to Lindos. If you find yourselves at Kolymbia, do not fail to visit the holy Monastery of Our Lady of Paramythia and the renowned Seven Springs situated close by.

Located 49 km from Rhodes town, the visitor will encounter the cosmopolitan town of Lindos. Lindos is one of the most popular destinations on the island, offering a unique character. The stunning view of the white houses spread out around the Acropolis, the large, shallow sandy beach and the bay of St Paul’s heart-shaped emerald waters, enchant the visitor. If you are fond of diving, Lindos is the place for you .In the village of great interest are many mansions with pebbled yards, the Acropolis of Lindos with its stunning sea view from the top, the medieval walls, the temple of Athena, the Byzantine church of Our Lady and many other archaeological sites. The donkeys patiently bear the task of carrying visitors through the picturesque streets of the village. In the white chapels of Lindos weddings are held, which are amazingly organised and magical. One can enjoy the traditional cuisine of Lindos Rhodes in the famous restaurants of the village. At weekends the nights of Lindos acquire vivacity as cafes, bars and clubs are full of people, and the village is inundated with local and foreign people enjoying themselves.

Pefki village, a relaxing resort on the southern island of Rhodes, 56 km from the town of Rhodes between Lindos and Lardos, which constitutes the ideal destination for lovers of peace and quiet while holidaying. It is a small village, formerly known as the village of fishermen, but has many valuable options. In  Pefki there are many apartments and hotels around the sea. Swimming in crystal clear waters and sunbathing on golden sand is a sheer enjoyment, while the generous shade of the pine trees helps you relax. At the edge of the beach there are caves to explore. There are also water sports schools for fans of the genre. The restaurants offer delicious food, do not fail to try the freshly cooked or grilled fish. When darkness falls, the night life in Pefkos  becomes vibrant with the music and dancing of the young tourists. Do not forget to shop your souvenirs from the variety of souvenirs sold in the village.
